south carolina
| I'm not sure if I could be love with a state anymore. Finally, I get to spend my spring break some place warm. Columbia, South Carolina. Oh joy! Currently the weather is a warm 75 degrees Fahrenheit with a slight breeze and clear blue skies. I got here on Saturday afternoon after spending the morning in the Indianapolis/Detroit airports. Discovered that the Wal*Marts down south are red, not blue. (Wow, I know!) They are not called 'palm trees' but 'palmetto trees.' Flip flops are the footwear of choice. AND most importantly, they have Dunkin' Donuts. (That was a must.) Basically, I don't want to leave. Kaylyn, Tyler and I headed for Charleston, SC on Monday morning to go to the beach. Charleston is a beautiful city. It's architecture and rich history just draw you in. I would of loved to seen Charleston back in the colonial times. As we walked the streets that evening, my head turned this way and that trying to take in as much of it as I could. Oh, but yes, we went to the beach. When we left Columbia, it was sunny, 76 degrees, and hot. When we got to Charleston, it was overcast, breezy, and kind of rainy. Just our luck. But who cares! We went to the beach and it cleared off a bit. Not enough to get a tan, but enough for it to be warm. (If you ever go to Charleston, check out Folly Island.) So yeah, I will be heading back to the bleak Indiana on Friday. Boo. Oh well. I will survive. |
