| Yesterday morning, I pulled myself out of bed @ 7:23. Yes, and this was a Saturday. However, there was a purpose for me to waking up this early. I had volunteered to work on a Habitat for humanity House with a group from Evans. It was actually really rewarding. When we got there all that was there was the foundation and the plywood flooring. When we left @ 12:30, the outer and inner walls were put up and even the doors and some of the windows were cut out. Pretty darn fun hammering in nails. It was kind of humorous though. One time I was trying to hammer in this one nail and it would just not go in. But then of course I couldn't pull it out either. 3 1/2" nails like staying put. So I tried another nail...Well the same thing happened. I finally got one in on the third try! It was so funny. Some of the guys from Taylor University were like cheering me on. I had a lot of fun but my arms felt like lead by like 11 o'clock. I am so glad my dad taught me how to hammer and use a level and other cool stuff like that. My jeans were basically covered in mud by the end of this escapade. My nails were embedded with dirt. And I even had a little grease on my hands from I don't even know where. After church today we drove past our house and saw how it was coming. It's such a rewarding feeling to look at something and know that you helped build it for a family in need. |
